Khloe Kardashian's Touching Pregnancy Announcement and What it Did for Her Social Media
Dec 23, 2017

Article by: Kosta Karakashyan

Khloe Kardashian gave us all an early Christmas present by announcing her pregnancy with a beautiful Instagram shot earlier this week on Wednesday. The soon-to-be mum revealed she was expecting her first child with boyfriend Tristan Thompson with a touching close up of her belly with both their hands tenderly wrapped around it.

Khloe’s announcement is the latest in the trend of unveiling one’s pregnancy on the social media channel, following iconic reveals by Beyonce and sister Kim Kardashian.

Khloe is the youngest of Kris Jenner’s three daughters by late husband Robert Kardashian after Kourtney, 38, and Kim, 37, so it’s only natural that she wanted to experience the same miracle of being a mum that her older sisters discovered.

In the warming caption, the reality star revealed that having her first child is the “greatest dream realized,” and that the good news is making her “so thankful, excited, nervous, eager, overjoyed and scared all in one!”

It turns out the announcement was just as exciting for Kardashian fans all across the Internet, judging by the huge spike in Khloe’s social media valuations following the post. In the last 4 days, she gained 503,182 new followers across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, bringing her total combined following to 115,178,025. Most of these come from Instagram alone, where she gained 399,596 new followers since the announcement.

The post has done wonders for her ad equivalency rate, giving Khloe her biggest boost in value per Instagram post ever, with her rate increasing by 30% from $201,080.46 to $292,449.54. This is the direct result of a spike in her engagement rate, increasing from an average of 1,462,247 per Instagram post to 8,623,753, consisting of congratulatory likes and comments on the pregnancy.

Beyonce’s pregnancy announcement had similar staggering effects on her social media presence, bumping her combined value for a Facebook, Twitter and Instagram post from $332,169.64 to $736,332.54 over the course of a week after the post. She gained almost 2 million new followers over two days, with fans still going back and commenting on the post, speculating whether another upcoming pregnancy announcement (Kylie Jenner, we’re looking at you) will surpass its 11,208,962 likes.

Some sources online are questioning whether Khloe’s Calvin Klein-branded post is not, in fact, an undisclosed sponsored post. Buzfeed speculated that this might be the first post in an upcoming Kardashian/Jenner campaign for the iconic American brand. We don’t see a disclosure on the announcement, which is in fact necessary, even if the particular post was not sponsored but was part of a larger long-term sponsorship deal.

Either way, Khloe’s pregnancy is very touching news, considering her openness about fertility issues in the past. She confided, in the caption, that she “had been waiting and wondering but God had a plan all along. He knew what He was doing. I simply had to trust in Him and be patient.”

We are extremely happy for Khloe and wish her, and all of you, happy holidays!
