BLOGGER // Marsa Lee
May 20, 2014

One of our newest additions to the D'Marie publisher network happens to be my long lost neighbor! You see, before I (Frank) moved to the bright lights, big city of Manhattan, I grew up in a town called Woodinville. Yup, Wood-in-ville. This town is one of those "Coach-bagged soccer mom in sweatpants and Ugg boots" kind of towns. However, just down the dirt trail is a town called Bothell, and if I had known Marsa Lee of The DayLee Journal was a resident, I may have saved myself from years of eye rolling and gay sighs over the lack of good taste and style in the area I called home. Marsa does Northwest style perfectly. Read more about her below.

DM: Why and when did you start blogging?

ML: I started blogging about two years ago as a way to keep family and friends updated with my life as a newlywed. It began as a regular lifestyle blog, though as readers began to ask me about my clothing, it slowly evolved into a lifestyle/personal style blog.

DM: Tell us about a successful experience working with a brand or advertiser on your website.

ML: Most of the advertisers that I work with are boutiques, Etsy brands, and new up-and-coming shops that are wanting to get their name out there. One of my most successful experiences was when I featured a swimsuit that I received from a boutique and also ran a giveaway for them. Their social media popularity grew tremendously and I also received a lot of positive feedback from readers.

DM: Describe your personal style. Who are your personal style influencers?

ML: Honestly, it's hard for me to describe my personal style because it changes from month to month depending on the weather and my mood. I tend to lean towards the slouchy, laid back look a lot. But, from time to time, I love to dress up in something more prim and chic. Some of my favorite style icons are Julie from Sincerely Jules, Chelsea from Zipped Blog, Sydney from The Daybook, and Rachel from Pink Peonies.

DM: What is your goal with the blog? (i.e. From a business POV and what you hope readers will take away from your posts)

ML: In the next few years, or even sooner, I would love to see my blog grow into something that reaches more readers and inspires them in both life and fashion. Fashion is an amazing way to show people who you are, and I love the idea of giving others ideas for their day-to-day outfits to better express themselves. From a lifestyle blog point of view, my life isn't anything glamorous like many of my favorite style icons, but I like to think that it's interesting enough to read and blog about ;)
