Nothing makes Team D'Marie happier than working with smart, creative business women with a strong blog and a great sense of style. Johnnalynn Lynch is all of the above. Her blog StushiGal Style is now a favorite to scroll thru amongs the team here. We're thrilled she's joined the D'Marie publisher network. Johnnalynn answered a few of our favorite questions below.
DM: Start from the beginning... Why/When did you start blogging?
JL: I originally started blogging in 2010 when I went to live in London for 2 months for work. I was so new to it all at the time that I didn't purchase a domain name or publish those articles to the public. I really just didn't know what I was doing then. All I knew was that I was passionate about fashion, loved to write, and wanted my creative outlet to be in the form of a blog. By 2011, I learned a lot more and officially started StushiGal Style.
DM: Tell us about a successful experience working with a blogger network, brand or advertiser on your website. Why do you think it was successful?
JL: I've been fortunate this year to work with quite a few brands. I deem a successful experience as one that turns into a partnership. When a brand returns to a blogger for repeat collaborations it speaks volumes about the quality of work and value you’ve provided to that brand. I haven’t had a partnership come out of a collaboration yet, but I have had the pleasure of obtaining repeat engagements with some of the brands I've worked with. Some examples would be the work I've done with Tart Collections and a blogger network called Millennial Central. I've written 3 posts for Tart Collections and 2 for Millennial Central so far.
DM: Describe your personal style. Who are your personal style influencers?
JL: I honestly love it all and mix things up every chance I get. I guess if I had to pinpoint one style I wear more often than not it would have to be the bohemian look. I’m a sucker for floppy fedoras, lace hemmed maxi dresses and gladiator sandals. My absolute favorite personal style influencers include: Atlantic-Pacific, Viva Luxury, Song of Style, Tuula Vintage and Fashion Toast.
DM: What is your goal with the blog?
JL: It’s funny to get that question since I really only started blogging as a way to express myself creatively. Now that I know blogging could actually springboard me into something much bigger, the possibilities are endless. An immediate goal is to be one of the top influencers. I would love to be one of the girls mentioned in the previous question about who a blogger’s favorite personal style influencers are! I want to inspire people and would love to use my blog as a platform to show women that fashion really is for all of us. At times, I get comments from women who put themselves down and I find that to be very disturbing. I want women that follow me to learn to love themselves.
DM: Tell me more about the name of the blog. Where does that come from?
JL: So funny that you ask that! LOL! My mother and father are from Jamaica and I’m sure most people are familiar with the dialect that’s spoken there. Jamaicans have a lot of funny names to describe people and things. The word “Stushi” is commonly used to describe a girl that is considered to be “Prissy”. One of my ex-boyfriends is Jamaican, and he used to call me that ALL the time. LOL! I guess it stuck because I immediately thought of it when the time came to name my blog.
